The reason I started this business was because I was working 40-80 hrs a week, mostly night, and it seemed like I was never home. My kids were becoming teenagers and they needed me home. Opening a store was a scary decision. Could we do without the security of the extra income that my present job provided? I knew I couldn't expect to take a wage for the first 2-3 years. I checked around and decided it would be lower monthly costs to add on to my house and pay a mortgage than to rent uptown since I was only 1 mile out of town. I have always enjoyed knitting and other needlework and found it hard to get the supplies I needed so I felt there was a need for a store like mine. |
As
business started picking up, I found I was the only one in the area selling
the materials for the macramé lawn chairs. This turned out to be
the main part of my business. I also make the chairs for people. I can
design almost anything you want within reason.
I also knit for other people. Sometimes I feel guilty sitting and knitting or stitching all day because I truly enjoy it. It just doesn't feel like I am working . The job of my dreams! To top it off, I can keep the house up, the laundry done, cook meals, and I am home when my husband and kids come home. What more could a person ask for! |
