The Wallaceburg & District Museum is located in southern Ontario in the former town of Wallaceburg. Wallaceburg is accessible to the east by London, Thamesville and Dresden, to the south by Windsor and Chatham, and to the north by Sarnia.
The town is strategically located along the banks of the scenic Sydenham River which flows directly into the St. Clair River that connect the Great Lakes, the world's largest fresh water system, and is only a short drive away from five Canada-U.S. border crossings. Wallaceburg is located only 90 minutes away from Downtown Detroit, home of the Tigers, the Lions, and the Pistons, and a number of theatres that bring you the best in entertainment. Wallaceburg's unique marina facilities make the town an ideal vacation spot for the fishing, boating and hunting enthusiast, as mooring possibilities right along the downtown core offer the convenience of shopping and dining all within easy access.
Wallaceburg's charm presents itself in its easygoing, friendly manner. It exudes the warmth and character associated with small town living yet is actually one of the most concentrated industrial centres in Southwestern Ontario.
The Museum documents the beginning of our community from the failure of Lord Selkirk's Baldoon settlement, in 1804, to its reputation as a tool and die manufacturing centre and Canada's "Glasstown".
Located a half-block from the banks of the Sydenham River, The Wallaceburg & District Museum occupies the former Wallaceburg
Hydro Office. Across the Sydenham River lies Wallaceburg's downtown area where you can explore the local shops. The banks of the Sydenham also provide harbour areas to boaters.
