At the end of a workday, my brother Mike was outside our store talking with John, a man he had been sharing Jesus with off and on. As they talked about the untruths to the Word that are often sited, a couple of Mormons came walking down the street on their usual walk, and my brother points them out to John as an example of untruths preached concerning the Word of God. A discussion takes place, and as I close down the store, John leaves and the two Mormons follow my brother into the store to carry on the conversation.
A few moments later, John comes walking into the store and sits himself down for the next couple of hours, listens to both sides and says not a word. After, everyone departs and goes their way.
The next day, John approaches Mike and tells him that the things he was saying last night made sense, and that he had gone home and asked God to forgive him of his sins and come into his heart. - Praise God!!!. John had listed to the truth and the lies, and God had given him the wisdom to discern truth from lie.
The next day, John comes into the store and begins sharing how he is convicted of swearing and needs to change. We shared how he is a new creation in Christ now, and like a lump of clay, God will begin the process of molding him into what He wants him to become. We asked him if he had a Bible. He tells us no, and when asked if he would like one, he tells us he can't read. Praise God, my brother has the New Testament on cassette sitting at home, offers this to John who accepts it gladly. Now the Word can do its job in training up a man in the way he should walk.
Ironically, about a year ago, a friend and myself had just got out of a prayer meeting and was sitting outside a coffee shop discussing how we need to just get out there and share Jesus. This man John, whom we only knew to see, came walking out of the coffee shop, and at that moment I pointed at him and said "we need to share Jesus with you". After I said it, I felt kind of goofy and tried to explain how we just got out of a prayer meeting and were excited about sharing our faith. Even though that was an awkward moment, I believe God used it to plant or water seeds of salvation in this mans life.
My brother has been a Christian for some time now, and as he shared this story of redemption, tears filled his eyes. He also told me that this was the first man he had led to Christ. I am sure there are many others he has been a part of in planting, watering and harvesting their souls for the Kingdom of God, he is just not aware of them at this time. top
