Reflections from the movie First Knight
First Knight inspired me with reflections of loyalty and courage in the character of Lancelot, despite his initial motives for fearlessness. Below are a few thoughts that transpired as a enjoyed the movie.
Even though Lancelot found courage because of nothing to lose, God used that foundation and built him into a warrior who was well skilled in battle and intellect. Tragedy made him what he become, useful to his king. As in our lives, God turns tragedy into victory as we pursue His Righteousness and Will. We become fervent, effective soldiers in His Army, fighting a war that shall prevail.
As the King and his knights gathered about the round table, they began with the most important item of all - Prayer. His prayer was one that was well versed in our needs as we struggle in this world. He said "God grant us the wisdom to discover the right, the will to choose it, and the strength to make it endure". How do we start our day?
No matter how hard we try to avoid war, most times it is inevitable. As King Authur said, "There is a peace to be found on the other side of war." One value that the knights had was their loyalty to the King, and to one another - "Brother to brother, yours in life and death". This is one quality the people of God need, one of unity and love for one another, even to death.
When King Arthur looked at Lancelot, he saw and built only on the good in him. How we need to, as brothers and sisters in Christ, avoid pointing out the bad in each other, and build one another up in Christ.
