OSTRICH & EMU MEAT PRODUCTS * EMU OIL * FARM TOURS WELCOME

Committed to a Healthier Lifestyle
Everyone can choose a healthier lifestyle without sacrificing taste and enjoyment.
As your red meat choice, Emu is nutritious, low in fat and great tasting!
We are very proud to be introducing Canadians to Emu.
We are a member of CEMU, the Canadian Emu Cooperative.

We have both Emu & Ostrich which belong to the Ratite family.
A ratitie is a flat breasted flightless bird.

The Oil
The Indigenous people of Australia have used emu oil - which is an unsaturated non-toxic oil - for hundreds of years to treat a myriad of conditions such as sunburns, minor burns, minor muscle pain, bruising, growing pains and stiff joints. Emu oil has also been used in the treatment of arthritis.
The oil is rendered from the back area of the bird during processing. When clinically distilled, the natural oil is hypo-allergenic and contains no hormones or steroids. This oil is used in hypoallergenic cosmetics and in combination with certain medicines. It's also used as a carrier for anesthetics.
Emu oil has been found to possess a deep, penetrating ability that promotes wrinkle retardation and softening of the skin.
A number of companies currently manufacture skin and health care products from emu oil.

Emu Tastes Great!

Comparable to beef tenderloin in taste and texture, Emu has a delicious, delicate flavour. It's becoming a favourite of chefs across Canada.
With shrinkage on only 1 - 1-1/2% after cooking, expect to enjoy more meat per serving. The consistency of Emu meat makes an average 142 gram (5 oz.) serving seem equivalent to a 228 gram (8 oz.) steak!

Be Good To Yourself, Try Emu!

However you like to eat meat, there's an Emu product just for you.
From choice fillet cuts, roasts, processed and deli products to the "Original Emu" line of sausages and burgers, Emu is perfect for any meal.
As well, portion-controlled Emu Medallions, choice cuts of fillets and ground Emu have been developed for the retail and food service segments.

Prepare to Enjoy!

1. Fillet Cuts
Sear your steaks first by pre-heating the pan or grill at high heat, then reduce heat to medium to finish cooking.
If you like your meat rare, we suggest you cook Emu for 3 minutes per side per 2.5cm (1 inch) of thickness. If medium rare is more to your liking, then 4 minutes per side will produce the desired results.

Over cooking these cuts to well done will rob them of their tender, delicate flavour. Whether you grill, barbecue or panfry these cuts, they each offer the taste of steak that you love!

2. Choice Cuts
These are great marinated, then grilled or barbecued. Why not try stews, chili, casseroles or soup at a lower, longer temperature - your family will ask for more!

3. Sausages and Burgers
For the finest in taste - barbecue, grill, or panfry these delectably lean meal selections. It doesn't get any better than this!
